Heathfield & Waldron RFC is sustained and supported by different groups of people, each group playing a key role in the health and success of our club. In addition to players and coaches of all ages and administrators and volunteers there is a group of people who contribute in many ways. The people in this group are our Vice-Presidents. VPs are elected, they do not pay subscriptions but they do give the club funding by donation and it is fair to say that our VPs are among the most generous and supportive in Sussex. The President of the club looks after the VPs and with assistance from two stalwarts of the club, Michael Baird and Geoff Green, organises a range of activities for them usually involving some of the bacchanalian joys of life and always geared to helping the club and selected charities.
Becoming a VP is not an automatic process. They have to be proposed, seconded and approved by the Club Committee. The Qualifications are as follows. A VP must show a love of the club and for the game of Rugby must make an annual donation and must agree to the traditions and ethos of the club and of our VP group. Our VPs are a delightfully eclectic lot. Many are people who have retired from the game but wish to put something back, some are coaches from within the club, some are sponsors and some are people who are new to the game but have formed a strong affection to our club. VPs are proud to wear their Tie for pre lunch matches and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Club Blazer.
Our VPs are cheerful and dedicated to H&W RFC. I look forward to giving you more information ant to keeping you up to date with their news.
