As Head Coach of Heathfield & Waldron RFC, I continue to be enormously impressed by the effort and commitment shown by the players, coaches and managers throughout the Club. We are a proper rugby club and continually strive to build success throughout our playing levels with genuine home grown talent.
Our Mini and Junior sections enjoy increasing successes in all the age groups and as those young players reach maturity through our vibrant Colts, they provide a steady stream of genuine home-grown talent into our senior section.
We proudly run 3 regular senior teams plus our ‘ever so slightly more occasional’ veterans known affectionately as the ‘Lost Boys’. There must be many Clubs throughout the country that can only dream of being able to support so many teams and offer so many players of all ages and abilities the chance to play regular rugby!
We are a very friendly Club and always look to welcome new faces whether they may be players or just social members looking to meet new friends so feel free to come along and join in the fun.
We firmly believe that rugby is a game for all personalities, shapes and sizes and Heathfield & Waldron in particular, has something to offer everyone and a warm welcome awaits. That said, we have our ambitions too and our 1st and 2nd teams especially, train hard to improve their game and compete at a higher level! Whilst training is sometimes tough and demanding, we always try to have fun as enjoyment for all, comes very high up on our list of priorities.
This last season (2010/11) the hard work clearly paid off as our 1st team set a new benchmark for the Club by deservedly winning promotion to London 2 South East! This is the highest playing level the club has achieved in its history and goes to show that the work and commitment shown by our senior playing squad is well worth it.
We benefit from dedicated and qualified Coaches at all age groups and who continually give their time and expertise to develop our players and teams and aim to provide a stream of balanced and talented young people who will be the future guardians of our Club.
From the newest member through to the Chairman and President there is enormous pride in being part of HWRFC and everything we achieve. Our management structure is second to none as we realise our ambitions by continually aiming high to improve our Club both on and off the field of play.
