“While most of us started a well-deserved break from rugby, Heathfield’s own Colt/U17 player Lars Thorkildsen was selected to play for Norway A (the national senior development squad) as a curtain raiser before Norway played Bulgaria. He had a great match, and the comments from the fellow forwards was “it was a bit strange in the beginning being bossed about by a 17 year old, but he was good and clearly knew what he was doing”.
Lars made his debut together with three of his fellow juniors (18-19), and with this he is the youngest player to have played in a senior national game for Norway. On the back of his performance Lars was also selected to play for the National 7’s development squad in Belgium.”
Meanwhile his dad (the mighty Per) modestly forgets to tell us that he himself has rapidly risen to become the President of the Norwegian Rugby federation. http://www.rugby.no/contact/styret/ .
With such quality guidance and play from Bexhill-on-Sea it is no coincidence that Norway are charging up the IRB world rankings……
