In April, at the end of the '24/'25 season, Tim Ball stepped down as Chairman to become Deputy Chairman and has handed over most day-to-day responsibilities of running H&WRFC to Deputy Chair Mark Greenless. However, Tim will continue to drive the Clubhouse extension and rebuild, for which we thank him. Mark has taken on the role of Chairman and we wish them both well in the future.
A FEW WORDS FROM PRESIDENT, ROBIN GALE:
"Tim took over as Chairman in early 2019 following the tragic and unexpected death of Dave Rhodes who was a hard act to follow ( especially as no one could get access into his laptop for some considerable time). Tim inherited plans to re-lay the training pitch and really had to go right back to stage one to try and see what Dave had favoured and also what would be affordable for the Club.
During his tenure as Chairman, Tim has been active in close liaison with the chairs of all Sections during a difficult period with the problems caused by Covid and the difficulty in re-building after the lockdown.
Following the huge cost of the training pitch, Tim led the efforts to raise finance from the RFU, relevant sport and local authorities and club members which has enabled us to finally proceed with the large and badly needed Clubhouse extension.
Heathfield & Waldron RFC continues to box well above its weight and has benefited over the last six years with a firm hand in control, and with sensible long-term planning.
It has been a pleasure to work with him supporting my role as President and I am sure that Mark Greenlees will step seamlessly into the position.
At the last Committee meeting of the season, Tim was presented with gifts on behalf of the entire Club. He received a beautiful, engraved pewter hipflask with a leather cover from the Club as a whole, and an engraved beer glass from the Committee, the thanks of everyone for his hard work".

MARK GREENLEES, CHAIRMAN:
"For those who don’t know me, I joined H&WRFC back in 2009 with my son who started rugby in the Minis. I was soon persuaded to become a coach for the U6s and continued through to the U10s when in 2012 James McIntyre convinced me to take over as Minis Chairman. Then, in 2016 with my son having moved up to the Juniors, I was able to enjoy coaching again for a short time until Ben Harman decided to step down as Junior Chair, and I was persuaded to take on this role.
In 2023 I eventually made way for James Crane to take over as the new Junior Chair and I assumed a new role as Deputy Chair to Tim Ball allowing me to continue to enjoy supporting both the Committee and the Club in whatever capacity I can.
As we prepare to start the new season, I am proud to take on the role of Club Chairman for H&W and hope to see the Club continue to improve and evolve over the next few years.
We certainly have some challenges ahead with the much-needed development of the Clubhouse and facilities plus the pressure to grow our membership, particularly in our Youth Section post COVID. However, we have also been able to share in the current success of our Senior Section and in particular our Ladies 1st XV who have recently been promoted to Championship 2 for the 2025 Season.
Finally, the Club would not be where it is today without the support of its members, and I do hope that together we can all ensure the continued success of H&WRFC for many years to come".
