We started construction of the Clubhouse Extension back in September (having talked about it and planned it for some 12 years). It is making good progress (despite the weather) and we hope to have it enclosed by the end of March. But we will then run out of money!
We knew that this would happen but opted to get it started and then turn to our Members in the hope of raising the rest of the funding.
The Club desperately needs this extension, and it represents the Club’s future. You also represent that future, and we now need you to help to provide for the Club’s future.
In particular, we are looking to the Mini and Junior sections for this. Parents of Minis and Juniors are often best placed to help because we hope they will see the future benefits and facilities of the improved clubhouse. We will also be asking the Vice Presidents, but they largely represent the Club’s past and have already made considerable donations.
So far, we have spent over £200,000 on this Project which has been raised largely through the Vice Presidents, through fund raising activities and from grants from the RFU and Sport England. We now need approximately £165,000 to fit out the building. If we cannot raise the funding, then it will be paid for from bar funds and general fund raising over the coming years but that means that we won’t get the full use of it for some time. We really want to use it next season.
We are obviously happy to accept gifts and tax efficient donations, but will also discuss loans from Members. Please think about what you can do to help possibly in providing some of the materials or labour that will be required during the fitting out process.
I am always available, as are any of the other members of the committee to answer any questions that you may have.
Thanks
