Heathfield started off strongly, capitalising on some Eastbourne mistakes, for us to take the lead. 5-0. Eastbourne came back very strong; but our defence in our twenty-two was great. Eventually our discipline slipped slightly, and the penalties enabled Eastbourne to break through our line to score. We managed to battle it out to half time; eventually it was halftime, and by now the ref had forgotten the time and I the score. The second half was much more tense, with a good start from Eastbourne. After a quick regrouping, we managed to come back with two tries but unfortunately, one of Eastbourne’s tries was under the sticks, so the conversion managed to win them the game. Overall, the game was excellent by both sides, our respect and overrall discipline was much better than before and we were unlucky to lose.
Our penalty count would have been a lot lower had we listened to the ref earlier.
PS: The squad would like to thank Jamie, for his support of us even on a cold away game. This demonstrates our fantastic squad spirit.
