Heathfield and Waldron RFC verses Cirencester

Gloucester tour 2019
On Sunday the 24th of March, Heathfield played Cirencester in glorious sunshine whilst we were on tour, in Gloucester.
We started off with the usual warm-up. Then our captain Joe was called over to do the toss. Luckily we won and we decided that we would start going up the hill as we then had a downhill advantage in the second half.
Will Z kicked a nice starting kick where Ollie D and Joe chased down. After about 5 minutes one of the oppositions who was very lanky and strong got the ball and ran through all our players. Then the same think happened twice in the next 10 minutes.
We were playing the game in 4 ¼ ‘s. when the first quarter ended we were 3-0 down. We had a good talk from the coach and players. This got our heads’ together and we realised that in order to win we would have to tackle better. 5 mins in we had a good break we made lots of ground and we were on their line. Will Z carried the ball wide from our position and passed it to one of our players who scored in the corner. The game carried on being very close, slowly they scored many tries but so did we. At one point we were 7-2 down.
Suddenly we realised how to play rugby we had an amazing game. Charlie M ran in 2 great tries made possible by some great forward support work and crash ball. In the end the game was very close with it being 8-5 in the last 5 mins. With 2 mins to go Ben Ch did a wonderful kick to our outside centre who ran to chase it. This put heaps of pressure on the opposition who made a big fumble. Thanks to our fantastic pack and great hooking by Jamie, we won the scrum and in the end scored. Sadly we lost 8-6 but very well played boys.
Everybody played really well but the
Man of the match in my opinion was Charlie M who played outstandingly.
