U14s win 60 point thriller for first league game

With the bonfire embers warm and the sun beaming down the two teams played some great rugby to score 60 points in only 50 mins. The tone was set early with Heathfield scoring after just 4 mins. Some simple rugby allowing Hector the space to beat the defence and score. Jersey responded with a try 2 mins later. With the game ebbing and flowing Jersey stepped up the pace and at one point led 12-21. Hector again scoring for Heathfield. Angus debut at 10 gave us a solid defence and go forward, the scrum seemed solid and our tackling is improving.
It was now the team improved the rucking and handling skills. Guess what will be a training this week! With our rolling subs bringing energy to the team our decision making improved; scoring 20 unanswered points. Hector scoring a couple more with Stanley and Oli T joining in. The last move of the game saw Jersey score a well worked try leaving the final score HWRFC U14 32 Jersey RFC U14 28.
With curry and cake (special thank you to Claire, Kate and Sarah) to finish Jersey headed off to Gatwick and our U14s look forward to meeting them on Tour in Jersey in March 2017.
