U14s lose to better Eastbourne side but draw last quarter

This squad friendly was set up with both squads expecting 22 players. The gentle joint training session was followed by 4 quarters of 15 mins. A major challenge for the 16 players that turned up for us! During the first quarter Eastbourne completely outplayed us. Rucking us of the ball, breaking tackles and running the ball at will. With the game result over by half time the coaching team were impressed by the second half attitude. Quarter 3 restricted them to just a couple of tries and we entered the last quarter. The patient support were finally rewarded with one of the best flowing moves of the game. Starting the play in our 22 the forwards recycled the ball a couple of times and Finn started the move that involved Jack, both Freddies', Stan and no doubt some I have forgotten (sorry!). The team had by now moved the play into their 22 and finally got the ball to Hector in space who battled over the try line. This sparked an intense period of defence as Eastbourne threw everything at the team who resisted until the last second on the game. An impressive squad response to draw the last quarter. Special mention to Stan for playing full back, centre and flanker in one game! Our man of the match was Archie who tackled superbly all day and was even taken out by the ref!
