Heathfield U14s score 8 tries in this 68 point feast of rugby.

What a start to the new year. On a mild, still and sligtly misty Sunday lunchtime the U14s got off to an excellent league winning start to 2017.
Archie managed the quickest sub of the season lasting 11 seconds before Kieran replaced him. Special mention must go to Kieran who failed to actually touch the ball for his half. “Let the ball do the work” I hear you cry!!!!!
The first 10mins were as good a ten as we have played. First an excellent restart from the reliable Tom R gave the forwards something to charge onto. Execllent rucking from the forwards delivered the ball to the backs that allowed the suprecharged Finn to charge over for the first of his two tries. Receiving the next kick off the team displayed some excellent handling and support play to release Freddie M. His pace and balance led him over for try number 2. At the next re-start the passage of play was repeated with this time Jack L benefitting and scoring the first of his 2 tries. The fifth try of the half was scored by another brace hero, Hector E. This one being converted by Tom R.
The team then came under a tough 10mins period as Seaford and Burgess Hill found continuity and some excellent charging runs.
The coaches changed 4 a half time; Angus had a least one 5 point try saving tackle, Tom R who played with intelligent game management, Ellis who performed well in open play and “remember me” Kieran. Later on Archie’s dead leg was recovered enough to replace Finn.
Freddie K came on at 10 and followed Tom’s lead providing a strong kicking game and like Tom breaking the gain line.
All the backs deserve a mention as the handling was a huge step forward. Indeed we have the Harry contender of pass of the season in releasing Hector outside him for one of our 3 tries of the 2nd half. Frankie remained solid at 15.
The coaches watched with pride as; James showed us some of the potential we all know he has with some outstanding runs, Bradley chraged all over the pitch making some excellent tackles and runs, Stan was immense at centre upping his pass percentage and being an attacking and defensive threat all day.
Scoring the first two tries of the second half helped calm some nerves on the side lines as Seaford Hill continued to become a greater threat. Themselves running in a 4th try as the final act of the game.
