Team work, line speed and great supporting play sees Hurricanes run in 9 tries

The Hurricanes welcomed Midhurst to Waldron for a waterfall fixture that had been rescheduled from before the break. On a cold and windy morning with bright sunshine the game started out very evenly matched. Fast hands and some clever tactical kicking saw Heathfield mount sustained pressure and keep the play in the Midhurst half of the field. Both sides were tackling and defending well but Heathfield opened the scoring with good straight lines of attach and exploiting a "dog-leg" gap in the Midhurst line. This was followed with another try for Heathfield will good quality ball from the forwards feeding a very fast center partnership and some well timed passing. All these tries well converted with a very competent kicking display from our number 10. A lapse in concentration and failure to secure the ball from the kick off gave Midhurst an opportunity and attacking off a scrum they opened their account with a well worked blind side attack. Heathfield came straight back up the field, securing the ball from their own kick off and scored, followed by another try from a direct and hard running back line and one from a great flanker charge down off the back off an opposition line out.
The half ended 5 trys to 2 and Heathfield were very much the dominant side.
The second half started as the first had finished with Heathfield scoring from the full back running a good line to go over in the corner. A lapse in concentration and a few missed tackles allowed Midhurst to score 2 tries but the Hurricanes lifted their game again and regained the initiative with intelligent play to keep the game in the opposition half and keep good possession of the ball despite strong Midhurst rucking. The next 2 trys went to Heathfield, including a very well taken scrum half try that used a gap in the line. The game finished 9 trys to 5 and Midhurst, who are unbeaten in our group, were very complimentary about a real team effort that had defeated them. 6 different players scored trys for Heathfield, with 8 of them very deftly converted. The whole team tackled, rucked and played for each other.
Well done Hurricanes
