On a sunny mother's Sunday, the U14s took on the U15s on the main pitch in front of a large crowd. The game started at a cracking pace with both teams using the width and moving the ball well. Defense was excellent on both sides with good tackling and strong competition for the ball at the breakdown. The U15s opened the scoring with strong forward attack and direct running. The U14's responded immediately with fast ball down the line and good strong running by the centers, to score a well worked try.
The size and experience of the U15s started to tell and they made progress through their bigger runners and good use of space. This was the theme for the rest of the game and despite a spirited performance from the 14s, they failed to cross the line again.
Both teams agreed that this was a valuable experience and useful exercise and gave both squads some ideas for future collaborations.
