Big win for Ball Grabbers in first home fixture

Heathfield too strong for game opposition

Heathfield Ball Grabbers 71 Sussex University Ladies 5

The Ball Grabbers played their first home game and their first full 15-a-side match on Sunday against Sussex University and were delighted with a massive victory.
In excellent conditions a good crowd, including many senior members of the Club, were very impressed by the quality of rugby played, especially given the lack of experience in the side generally.

Try Scorers - Carly Harris x1, Heather Jury x4, Carla Monson x1, Hannah Osbourne x2, Ele Ross x1, Georgia Hutchinson x1, Liz Ashworth x1

Jury had a great day with her four tries and was selected as the Forward of the day. Osbourne, Taylor, Ross and Ashworth were especially noted for their tackling. Monson had a superb day with the kicking tee, converting eight tries.
This was the first game for Corney and Dickinson.

The match was played in four twenty minutes periods, allowing time for the coaches to do their stuff and to make plenty of replacements so as to build experience.
Sussex University contributed fully on the day with a lot of tackling and some good handling when they did get the ball but generally the Ball Grabbers were just too strong.

Heathfield is delighted with the development of this team and would like express warm appreciation for the sponsorship by Gover Gym and OG Supplements.

The team are coached by Fraser Goatcher and Chris Ambrosino.

Training takes place at Cross-In-Hand on Monday at 7.15pm and on Saturday at 9am. Anyone interested is most welcome to turn up, irrespective of previous experience.
