4 x 20 minute sessions were played to allow both squads the chance to try varying players in new positions and give the teams a good workout.
The day was perfect for trying out lifting in the line-out which is allowed at U16 age grade rugby and changes in the new scrum law of Crouch, Bind, Set. Not forgetting the referees call to the scrum half to allow the opportunity to put the ball in STRAIGHT! 'Yes 9'
Both teams fell foul of the referee at the scrum to start with, but it was quite refreshing to see the Hooker - actually HOOK!
The games ebbed and flowed as changes were made but overall we were very happy with the performance taking into account that it was the first game of the season with many new faces eager to impress.
Well done to all the squad - a great start with room for improvement in every area.
Lastly our thoughts go out to Joe Farnham (Winger) who unfortunately broke his arm. We wish the Velcro Monkey a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him at training in afew weeks!
