We drove through some pretty terrible to get to Brighton for their festival and slowly the weather decided to be kind to us.
However, the omens were not good when we found out the number of teams in the U12s had unfortunately dropped from 5 to 3 on the day due to injuries and sudden unavailability.
The organisers were splendid though and so it was agreed that each team attending - the Hurricanes, Brighton and Pulborough - would play each other twice so the kids could get some good rugby time.
The usual Hurricane curse was on us with the team taking at least two matches to get warmed up and start to play our type of rugby.
Over the morning there were patches of great rugby and patches of really poor rugby. Even in individuals we saw the highs and lows of performance.
It's fair to say that this festival was there for the taking, but not on this performance.
Still, valuable lessons learned and lots to take home to build on.
Thank you Brighton for hosting the festival and for delivering some great rugby.
