A huge thank you to one and all for making the journey and battling against the weather forecast, the rain and the wind.
We found ourselves in a very strong group, but the boys were determined and up for the challenge.
Our first match was against Chichester As. We faced up man to man and bar break away tries the score would have been much tighter than the 3-0 to Chichester. This is the team that eventually went on to win the entire competition in our age group and I overheard a few parents saying that we were a great first match, we made their team sit up straightaway, we tackled hard and rucked well. Praise indeed!
Next was Effingham&Leatherhead. This was their first team who like Chichester outweigh each of our children by a stone in weight at least. We tackled our hearts out and played with huge commitment. The score, 2-0 to our opponents, meant nothing as the boys wore their shirts with pride and were fantastic ambassadors for our small club. Well done.
We then faced a very depleted Crawley who came on the pitch with only 10 players. We wanted to make sure that everyone got game time so we loaned out 3 of our players who donned the Crawley shirt and were an inspiration to their team. Thank you chaps - really well done for doing this. We had a good win with the final score line being 5-1 to Heathfield.
We finished third in our group and this meant that we faced Eastbourne in our play off. Huge commitment as ever and great play with full rotation. Although we lost 4-0 the players should be incredibly proud of how they played throughout the day.
Well done Hurricanes.
Thanks to Pulborough for being wonderful hosts of a superb competition.
