A fine showing at the H Cup

The opposition comprised of : Hove, Haywards Heath, Horsham and Shoreham.

Our first game was against a very large Hove. The intensity was severe, but our boys were up for it and neutralised the opposition and played most of the game in their half. We had two significant injuries which did rattle the team a little and we finished with a 0-0 draw.

Our second game was against Haywards Heath. This was another very physical battle. We were all so impressed with our players who whilst not as large as many of our opposition certainly still managed to pack a punch above their weight. Like the first game the score was 0-0.

These two games were back to back and exhausting and then there was no respite as we had to play our next game without a break. Up next was Horsham. Again another side that have grown larger than our boys. The opposition started well and scored two tries only due to our lack of tackling and also our boys were understandably tired. I was exhausted just by watching them! They then rallied and played truly committed rugby. Although we lost we did ourselves proud and the score was 2-0 to Horsham.

Our last game was against Shoreham who had already beaten Horsham. Again a very large and strong team. We were down 2-0 nil quickly , again to lack of tackling, but the boys then became men. It was fantastic and they worked as a team and clawed it back to 2-2 at half time. The second half was just as intense and the game ended 3-3.

From the coaching side I could not have been more proud. They were a TEAM. That is what we tried to impress upon them and they more than delivered.
