Today we welcomed Martin Maytum, Groundsman at Harlequins and a VP at Maidstone RFC, who kindly gave up his time to show us what we can be doing with our pitches. As a proud grassroots affiliate of Harlequins, we benefit hugely from the partnership, from match tickets to our minis playing at the Stoop, and visits like this one.

Phil Bell gave years to looking after our grounds, and since his death the club has been working to rebuild that knowledge and capacity. Martin pointed us in the right direction, offered ongoing support and put us in touch with the contacts we'll need. Thank you Martin.

To carry on Phil's work, we're starting a small volunteer group: the Bell's Brigade. If you (or someone you know) would enjoy line marking, mowing, spot-repairing pitches or just getting outdoors and helping out, please get in touch - no experience is needed (and indeed no interest in rugby). The club can also fund formal training through the Grounds Management Association for those involved.
