Heath travelled to Worthing for a crucial league fixture knowing they were better for the runout against Lewes the week before and boy did they not disappoint.
This was a brutal match upfront with all forwards playing their part. Heath’s rucking and recycling of the ball was the best it has been all season and at one point in the second half Heath drove at the Worthing line and recycled for about 10 phases, everytime their body positions low and driving their opposite number back – brilliant!
Despite the final score, for long periods, there was nothing between the two sides however, Heath’s defense was more frail and disorganised, the midfield particularly, with several crucial first up tackles being missed allowing Worthing to break through and off load for support runners to score. Heath were also tackling too high allowing Worthing’s boys to stay on their feet longer and gain more ground.
Callum Hallit was suitably charged, passionate and his endeavour paid off with two tries. Playing fly-half for the second time this season he showed what a playmaker he can be and together with his strong running is a real handful for the opposition.
In the first half one of his breaks saw him put Shanners in the clear only for him to be held up over the line.
Deep in the second half his delightful chip, over the advancing Worthing backline, was beautifully picked up by Ollie Watson to take him over, with about four Worthing players on his back,
All tries were converted perfectly by Ben Robson.
In summary, a superb, hard match for the boys just let down by defensive errors.
