There is absolutely no disgrace in losing away to the champions Brighton, so the boys can definitely hold their heads high. In fact, bizarrely, by conceding just 19 points (3 tries) this was one of our better defensive performances of the season ......(?!).
Clearly Brighton were deserving winners. They were quicker at winning and then recycling ball which they put to good use. Without the ball they invariably had us under pressure which forced turnovers and meant that we spent most of the match in our own half.
Nevertheless there are definite positives! The Brighton coaches had plenty of praise for our boys and in particular mentioned the 10 minute spell in the first half when we took the lead and very nearly scored again. At this point both our forwards and backs were breaking the gain line and forcing Brighton on to the back foot. The hard part is keeping this up for longer against quality opponents.
Anyway .... next up we look forward to hosting a quality Pulborough outfit who have had some very notable results.
Then..... the big one .... the last outing....as we go global and fly to Jersey....
