This was a fantastic full squad display in front of a large crowd and against highly ranked opponents. The forwards were excellent, continually generating good ball against tough opponents. The set scrum was particularly strong and the variety of the forward runs kept Crowborough on the back foot for large parts of the game. You do not win games by this margin without getting quality possession.
The good ball with excellent distribution created the opportunities for some stunning tries out wide where we looked most dangerous. George gets individually named for a quality hat-trick out on the left wing but others showed real speed and class.
The defending has got better with every game, with both the first-up tackles and the covering defence restricting Crowborough in open play. In fact their first try somehow came from one of our line-outs and then the next two from quickly taken Crow penalties which won’t happen next time(!).
Many thanks go to Crowborough as great hosts. We are definitely looking forward to meeting up again in the New Year.
Next up, just before Xmas, we host an unbeaten Hove side who seem to have recovered their winning mojo of previous years. It will be a cracker.
