Lewes pull away in the final quarter

Development squad gave 100% but let Lewes in late on
On a beautiful day at Lewes the hurricanes took on a big Lewes side keen to get revenge for a loss early in the season. The first 15 minutes were entirely in the Heathfield end of the park and Lewes came close but stoic defence kept them out. The Heathfield scrum held its own despite giving up a significant weigh difference. The pressure eventually told and a chip over the top from Lewes let them in for their first score.
Heathfield picked up after this and the game moved up and back the field with good passages from both teams. A very creative run from our full back brought the scores level for half time.
The second half saw a more assured performance from Heathfield and a more balanced game. A couple of lapses in defence under a concerned forward dominated period by Lewes let them in for 2 more tries. Heathfield responded with a really nice worked attach with a very well timed pass from the centre back to a rampaging Killian who ran in from 30 meters to score. This was very nicely converted by Zak. A few injuries and shuffles of positions caused some loss of continuity and let Lewes in for a final score.
This game was all about giving people game experience in alternate positions and reintroducing a couple of boys back from injury. It was a strong performance and one that all the boys will learn from.
